Mandatory biometric update before January 1, 2025, to do online transactions

According to Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN issued by the State Bank of Vietnam, from January 1, 2025, individual customers will only be able to withdraw money and make electronic payment transactions from their payment accounts if their chip-based ID card/Identity Card and biometric information of the account holder or the authorized representative have been verified.

To ensure the secure, safe and seamless customer experience during online transactions, VIB recommends that customers update their biometric information before January 1, 2025, directly on the MyVIB in a simple and quick way.

Biometric Data Update Process on MyVIB:
1. Access the MyVIB, go to "Others," and select Account Verification
2. Capture your Citizen ID card
3. Scan your facial image
4. Read the chip information on the Citizen ID card
5. Confirm completion.

Additionally, under the 2023 Citizen Identification Law, nine-digit ID cards will no longer be valid after December 31, 2024. Therefore, customers will be unable to conduct banking transactions with these documents. To ensure uninterrupted transactions, VIB encourages customers to check the validity of their identification documents and complete the biometric update before January 01, 2025.

Notes:
- Customers should only update biometric data on the MyVIB Digital Banking application or visit a VIB branch for support.
- To avoid the risk of fraud and scams, please do not update biometric data through any other websites or applications.
