Notice of temporary suspension of Card transactions from January 1, 2025

Based on Circular 18/2024/TT-NHNN on Regulations for Bank Card Operations and Circular 17/2024/TT-NHNN on Regulations for Opening and Using Payment Accounts at Payment Service Providers issued on June 28, 2024, VIB announces the cases of card transaction suspensions from January 1, 2025, as follows:
1. For Vietnamese customers
Affected Cases | Impact Level | VIB's Recommendation |
Cardholders who have not completed biometric verification at VIB | Temporary suspension of card transactions via electronic means such as online payments (excluding cash withdrawals at ATMs using physical cards). | Please complete your biometric update by: - Following the instructions on MyVIB at here or; - Visiting the nearest VIB Branch/Transaction Office for assistance. |
Cardholders with expired ID/CCCD/CC cards | Temporary suspension of all card transactions (including withdrawals, POS/Internet payments). | If your identification documents are expired or about to expire, please update your information by: - Updating your ID documents on the MyVIB app at here or; - Visiting the nearest VIB Branch/Transaction Office for assistance. |
2. For foreign customers
Affected Cases | Impact Level | VIB's Recommendation |
Cardholders who have not had their facial images collected at VIB counters | Temporary suspension of card transactions via electronic means such as online payments (excluding cash withdrawals at ATMs using physical cards). | Please visit the nearest VIB Branch/Transaction Office for assistance. |
Cardholders with expired passports or documents proving legal entry into Vietnam | Temporary suspension of all card transactions (including withdrawals, POS/Internet payments) | If your passport or documents proving legal entry into Vietnam are expired or about to expire, please visit the nearest VIB Branch/Transaction Office to update your information. |
In accordance with the regulations of the State Bank of Vietnam, from January 1, 2025, VIB will disable electronic payment functions or lock cards. Cardholders are requested to complete biometric updates and update personal documents to ensure uninterrupted card usage.
Please note:
- The temporary suspension of card transactions as mentioned above does not include transactions initiated by VIB such as fees, interest, installment payments, credit card debt collection, and other transactions as required by competent state authorities.
- You can only update biometric information on the MyVIB banking app or at VIB Branches/Transaction Offices.
- VIB does not require other forms of verification (such as verification via links, calls guiding app installation, or providing personal information). Please be cautious to avoid scams.
